Yes, to Lemons? What to Know About Lemon Water

Drinking lemon water has been such a trend lately, especially if your goal is weight loss. You hear people talking about it and carrying lemon-infused water bottles, but is it really necessary? Depends on who you ask.

There is so much information out on the internet about what to eat, what not to eat. What to drink, what not to drink. It gets really confusing! This is especially true if you are looking for answers to a specific goal such as weight loss. What or who do you believe?

One of the most frustrating things is to spend time surfing the internet looking for answers on how to lose weight. You may come across a website talking about how drinking warm lemon water every morning will aid in weight loss. Then, you scroll onto the next website that says there is no evidence that drinking lemon water will help you lose weight. Seriously? Which is it?

In all honesty, I simply do not care. My whole goal in drinking lemon water is not based on whether it helps me lose weight or not. Although losing weight is a goal for many people, losing weight alone doesn't cover the bigger picture. The question I ponder when doing research is, how healthy is it? vs. will I lose weight?

Lemon Water for Hydration

For me personally, I love to drink lemon water. Not because I think it may help me lose weight, but because I know there are health benefits to it. It actually helps me drink more water because I simply love the taste of it. But, just like everything else, I don't go crazy with it either. For example, out of my 8 glasses of water a day, I may add lemons to my first glass, and that's it.

Despite the controversy, no one can deny that drinking water is essential for survival. Since this is a known fact, why not add extra benefits into your daily water intake, such as lemons? They are a rich source of Vitamin C, have anti-inflammatory properties and are a natural detoxifying agent.

So, the next time you read contradictory information on the internet relating to weight loss, try to look at the bigger picture. Is what they are offering good for your health? There may not be direct evidence that drinking lemon water will make you lose weight, but know that you may reap other benefits from it.
